Phil Hough has been in a caring role for 35 years for various family members. He supports his local carers Group, as a Carer he has supported his local mental health trust Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust with various activities.

He is co-chair and Member of the Peoples Advisory Forum for Health Education England; he supports the delivery of the Mental health workforce agenda. Along with co-chairing work on the National Peer support worker programme.

Phil works in research and is co applicant on various large research projects linked with supporting a smoke free NHS, he has worked with many NHS and independent organisations in supporting their own journeys to smoke free.
