Preventing Suicide, Saving Lives

The Preventing Suicides, Saving Lives session will focus on what the NHS and the wider health and care sector – including charities and local authorities – can do to help reduce the number of deaths by suicide in the communities that they serve/work in.
During the session we will hear from Ruth Sutherland, chief executive of the Samaritans about the important work they do to prevent suicides. Joe Raffety, chief executive of Mersey Care NHS FT will talk about the Zero Suicide Alliance movement and Steve Gilbert, service-user and vice-chair of the independent review of the Mental Health Act will be talking about his personal story of suicide attempts and his journey to recovery.
The Mental Health Network has joined with the Zero Suicide Alliance’s call to action to challenge one million people to take the zero-suicide training which is available at the Zero Suicide Alliance website.
