1.8 ‘More and different’? – A Q&A on the NHS People Plan
19th June, 11:30-12:30pm | Central 3&4
Chair: Sir David Behan, Chair, Health Education England.
Technology, demographics and the expectations of those we serve will make the NHS as unrecognisable as today’s NHS surely is to those pioneers of 1948.
As set out in the Interim NHS People Plan, we need to grow and transform the workforce to be able to deliver 21st century care. We will need a “more varied and richer skill mix, new types of roles and different ways of working, ready to exploit the opportunities offered by technology and scientific innovation to transform care and release more time for care“.
The Interim NHS People Plan calls for leaders to adapt and play their part in creating an improved culture and working environment that is more agile, flexible, more multi-disciplinary – underpinned by the behaviours we know work best in healthcare; collaboration, inclusivity and compassionate leadership.
This solutions-focused session will encourage you to candidly take stock of where we are in our journey to making compassionate leadership commonplace, as well as providing a space for you to share your ideas on how to grow and transform the NHS workforce and support and develop NHS leaders at all levels as we aim to make our NHS the best place to work.
