For services to be truly patient-centred, the views of people with lived experience need to be reflected in the planning, commissioning and delivery of health services. While mental health services do co-production better than any other part of the system there is still a long way to go to ensure meaningful patient involvement is the default option, and that other parts of the system, including CCGs and the acute sector understand the benefits that co-production can achieve.
