The tasks ahead: priorities for the NHS over 2021/22

16 Jun 2021
S - Specialist sessions 2

Coronavirus is the greatest health emergency in the NHS’ history, but thanks to the agile COVID-19 response and success of the vaccination programme, the opportunity now exists to get back to delivering on the important improvements in care set out in the NHS Long Term Plan.
While the NHS must remain ready to deal with any increase in COVID-19 cases and continue to vaccinate those who are eligible, the focus is now shifting to tackling backlogs that have inevitably built up, tackle the health inequalities that have been highlighted by COVID-19, as well as transforming care for the future, building on the innovations of the NHS pandemic response. Looking after and continuing to grow the NHS workforce will also be central to recovery plans.
This session will explore these themes, and what NHS teams at all levels of the organisation need to be planning for over the year ahead.
