Place leadership in action: realising Future Fleetwood

17 Jun 2021
B - Breakout stage 3
System integration and collaboration

The NHS has a critical role to play in the economic, social and cultural recovery of our places. This session will explore how a group of public, private and community sector leaders in Fleetwood have come together to develop Future Fleetwood, a new collective driven by the need to address rising inequalities and support local communities throughout the pandemic and beyond. Future Fleetwood’s vision is clear: to build a stronger, healthier place and a more prosperous future.

Led by a GP and primary care network clinical director, the NHS is playing a key role in shaping plans for regeneration, employment, industrial and economic growth, and cultural development. Hear about how Future Fleetwood has been asked by the council to lead and experiment on many of the traditional local authority responsibilities and join local leaders as they navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by place. Add these to a renewed focus on community anchor institutions, health on the high streets, closer working with universities and we have the future of place-based leadership.

This session forms part of the System Integration & Collaboration theme, which is sponsored by Novartis Pharmaceuticals UK.
